Why NIACS?
A chimney sweep works inside your home working with heating appliances that have the potential to be life threatening. We believe the person you invite into your home to maintain these systems should be fully trained and have a sound understanding of appliances and the flues serving them. We don’t believe this can be taught on a one or two day workshop in a classroom. Our members are trained on the job, one on one with a training officer, for a minimum of two weeks with ongoing support for many months after. The sweep will be covered by public liability insurance and use practices and equipment approved by us to ensure your appliance is left safe. If there are safety issues arising during the appointment, these will be documented and you will be given a written notification, and advised on what course of action you need to take and what member might be able to help out if your chosen sweep does not offer the service
Accredited members
Every NIACS member is fully trained on a one on one basis with a training officer for a minimum of 2 weeks in the field and vetted before joining. When you book a member sweep, you know who is coming to your door and what standard they work to.
Fully insured
Members carry the insurance to work safely in your home, so a routine sweep never becomes your problem to put right in the even of an accident.
Code of conduct
Membership means signing up to a shared code of conduct — honest pricing, safe practice, and accountability to the association.
